Jones explained of the breast cancer survivor, “Jyrl, who is a former pilot herself, loved the announcement and was elated at the reaction the passengers on the plane gave her. It was a great way to kick off our trip.”

At the end of the pilot announcement, he also encouraged this human care to the whole plane. He said, “In today’s environment it just makes it special that we can share that human bond to take care of each other. Everybody’s a big family out there. Welcome aboard. Congratulations.”

According to Jyrl’s friend, the Hawaii trip was also a success. She said, “She had a wonderful trip on the island of Kauai, we went hiking, kayaking, ziplining, and snorkeling proving to herself that cancer hadn’t won the fight and she was still capable of doing such fun, and exhausting activities!

CBS’s reposting of the video celebrated the breast cancer survivor received responses from viewers admitting they were crying, just watching the video. Others said, “Beautiful,” “Heck yeah!!,” “Bless her,” and “Woohoo congratulations.”

Some people who are also now cancer free chimed in saying, “Me too my warrior friend!! I understand those tears! Enjoy!”
