We Broke Up With Netflix

We love TV and Netflix. My husband loved TV. So, how could I explain to him that I felt like God wanted us to let that part of our life go? I had a check in my spirit though, and through obedience, we broke up with Netflix.

“I’m Raising My Sons With Your Daughters in Mind”

Little girls are meant to be cherished, respected, and loved for the jewels they are. But when every other headline in today’s society is alluding to some new sexual assault/misconduct allegation, it makes it tough to believe that we can raise them in a safe world.

When will we see the day that our daughters do not need to be on the defense, packing pepper spray and knives in their purses, and making sure they go for jogs in well-lit, populated neighborhoods? When can they safely go to a party and not be blamed for being raped because of how much they drank or what they were wearing?

Well, proud boy-mom, Krista Ward, is praying that she may see that generation rise up as she raises her sons to live in such a time that shatters the status quo.

“There’s a certain dialogue that’s permeating the world we live in, and our sons have the power to change it. To flip it upside down. To turn it on its head,” writes Krista in her viral Facebook post.

“Across our country, around the globe, little girls are being inundated with the message that boys are bad,” she continues. “That men are not to be trusted. That instead of protecting you like they ought to, they’ll be the perpetrator. They’ll be the cause of your pain. They’ll be the reason for a story that you should’ve never had to tell.”

Krista believes she was meant to raise boys in such a time as this, as she knows that the parents of boys, collectively, have the power to be catalysts for change.

Read her viral Facebook post in full below, and be sure to share it with the “boy moms” you know on Facebook:

“I’m raising my sons with your daughters in mind.

Because I firmly believe that my being a boy mom was not an accident. It wasn’t a coincidence.

And, even more than that, I know without a doubt that I’ve been called to be a boy mom right here, right now.

In this climate, during this time, to this generation.

Because there’s a certain dialogue that’s permeating the world we live in, and our sons have the power to change it. To flip it upside down. To turn it on its head.

Which means that we, the parents of boys, have the power to be catalysts to that change.

Across our country, around the globe, little girls are being inundated with the message that boys are bad. That men are not to be trusted. That instead of protecting you like they ought to, they’ll be the perpetrator. They’ll be the cause of your pain. They’ll be the reason for a story that you should’ve never had to tell.

And while that breaks my heart for my boys — for all the men who aren’t that kind of man, for all the men who strive to be the exact opposite of the image that’s being portrayed — my heart breaks so much more for your girls.

Because this is not at all what was intended for them.

Little girls are supposed to be able to trust men.

Little girls are supposed to be able to feel safe.

Little girls are supposed to be able to be cherished.
