Reba & Lauren Daigle Take the ACM Awards to CHURCH With Powerful “Back to God” Performance

The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas was poppin’ on Sunday night as it was home to the 52nd annual Academy of Country Music Awards, hosted by Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley.

Monday morning brought Internet buzz of the night’s biggest events like Miranda Lambert making ACM history by winning her 8th consecutive “Female Vocalist of the Year” award. Perhaps the most memorable moment of the night however, was when country music legend, Reba McEntire took to the stage with Christian music songstress, Lauren Daigle, to perform her newest single, “Back to God.”

Reba’s latest studio album, Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope, is a collection of her favorite gospel songs—old and new. It’s a product of her label Nash Icon Records, who teamed up with Capitol Christian Music Group.

“Back to God,” is the first single off of her debut gospel album to be played on both country and Christian radio, so it was only fitting to bring Lauren Daigle and her sultry vocals along for the performance.

Together, the women were a powerhouse. They brought the ACM audience to Church, and reminded everyone at home that “we need to give this world back to God.”

Check out a preview of the breathtaking performance below.

Reba has always been open about her faith, but even more so in recent history, following her divorce from Narvel Blackstock after 25 years of marriage in 2015.

“I can’t imagine living a life without God in my life. He is my best friend, He’s my buddy, He’s the one that I talk to when there’s no one around. I talk to Him when people are around a lot too. He’s my confidant, He’s my advisor, He’s my director. I just don’t know why you wouldn’t want that in your life. He’s just like a bodyguard, He is your protector,” she explained in an interview with Christian Post.

The gospel album is a reflection of this, sharing with listeners and audiences across the globe, her incredible faith journey, and who Jesus is in her life.

Country artists have a greater tendency to include their faith, and God in a wide variety of their songs. But it never gets old seeing two strong daughters of the most high, proclaiming the Gospel in a world that seems further from the Lord than ever before.

In 2017, we need to give this world back to God. And if the news, media, Facebook feeds, and statistics aren’t enough to convince you, the lyrics to this powerful song surely will.
