Teen Walks Up to Thrift Store Piano—When She Opens Her Mouth, Hole. Lee. SMOKES!

One of mine and my husband’s favorite things to do when we have nothing to do is wander around thrift stores. We generally don’t buy much, if anything at all, but it’s fun to see all of the completely random stuff that people used to—and will someday—own.

One item you’re sure to find in every thrift store is a donated piano. But as many times as I’ve seen a set of black and white keys, I’ve certainly never come across a Genavieve Linkowski.

The Flint, Michigan, teen is the oldest of nine children and happened to be out shopping with her mom when she came across the store’s donated piano.

Genavieve decided to play and sing as she passed the time, but when she opened her mouth, customers around the store were shocked by what came out: PURE talent.

As she performed Little Big Town’s “Better Man,” her beautifully crisp voice attracted the attention of a group of shoppers. Connie White Hanson captured it on video:

I was shopping at a Thrift store in Flint, when I heard this incredible voice coming from the back of the store. There was a girl by the name of Genavieve singing and playing a donated piano while waiting for her mom to finish shopping. The guy in the blue shirt, (who is shown later pinging the keys, “jamming” with Genavieve) can’t read music and has never had a piano lesson and he is AMAZING, as you will see in the video I posted down below in a separate video ( the first few posts.)

*GENAVIEVE invites you to follow her on Instagram, her name is @singer4jesus and her snapchat name is @genlink16!
Genavieve’s Facebook music page is https://m.facebook.com/gennalaurenmusic/

She would LOVE to share her passion for music and her dreams
with you!

Connie shared Genavieve’s incredible voice on Facebook, writing:

“I was shopping at a Thrift store in Flint, when I heard this incredible voice coming from the back of the store. There was a girl by the name of Genavieve singing and playing a donated piano while waiting for her mom to finish shopping.”

The video has since been viewed almost a million times.

On her Facebook page, which is dedicated to her music, Genavieve credited God for her ability to sing.

“I just want to remind you all, God gave me my voice. I didn’t do anything to get it, so I want Him to get all the glory! Thank you all so much for watching, and thank you so so so much for all your support!”

She later uploaded a full cover of “Better Man” to her Facebook Page, and even had Connie over to her family’s house for a “one (wo)man show.”

Genevieve hopes to audition for NBC’s The Voice in the near future. But until then, she’ll just keep singing her heart out with the gifts that God has blessed her with.

All the praise for this beautiful young woman of God. She knows whose she is, and isn’t holding back!
