This Super Bowl Ad Only Aired One Time—16 Years Later, America Still Hasn’t Forgotten

As Super Bowl 52 approaches, the anticipation of 30 to 60-second slots that boast the crème de la crème of advertising can draw as much or more attention than the game itself.

And Budweiser is not one to shy away from stealing the spotlight with their hyper-creative approach to branding through storytelling. In fact, the early launch of their 2018 Super Bowl ad “Stand by You” has already gained widespread viral attention.

“Over the years, we have an audience that is waiting to see what Budweiser is going to bring,” says Budweiser’s vice president of marketing, Ricardo Marques. “And that, of course, is an amazing position that we very much enjoy and we always look forward to the Super Bowl stage.”

The attention surrounding their latest ad can’t help but bring back the nostalgia of perhaps the most powerful Super Bowl commercial that Budweiser ever released. It was aired only ONE time ever during Super Bowl XXXVI on February 3, 2002.

According to AOL, “Anheuser-Busch’s creative team came up with the concept and moved heaven and earth to make the commercial. They had to get approval from members of Congress, the advertising community and from New York Mayor Rudy Guiliani.”

Shortly after commemorating the 16th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, the ad featuring the ever-revered Clydesdales still sends waves of emotion throughout the country.
