“But she doesn’t look like you. We have lots of other dolls that look more like you.”
The woman’s response hit Brandi’s last nerve, but before mama bear could react, Sophia let out the most beautiful response.
“Yes, she does. She’s a doctor like I’m a doctor. And I’m a pretty girl and she’s a pretty girl. See her pretty hair? And see her stethoscope?”
Wise words from miss Sophia.

Brandi says the cashier finally dropped the conversation after that by simply saying, “Oh, that’s nice.” It’s probably a good thing that she did, cause this mama was not about to have a stranger teaching her daughter to see race. Brandi wrote about the exchange on Facebook, and shared an awesome takeaway that we can all learn from:
“This experience just confirmed my belief that we aren’t born with the idea that color matters. Skin comes in different colors just like hair and eyes, and every shade is beautiful.”
Brandi’s viral post has now been shared, liked and commented by over 700,000 people since it was posted to Facebook last week. If this beautiful story of color-blind love inspired you too, please share it with your friends and family! ❤️
