They say distance makes the heart grow fonder.
Though intended for people in love, I have to think that this phrase is true for anyone—especially for a parent whose son or daughter has moved away.
For Greg Harris, missing his son Cory was like nothing he’d ever experienced before. Cory was a Marine, and he’d been stationed in Japan for 14 months before he was able to return home to the states.

During that time, Cory and his dad kept in touch the best they could, but no amount of communication could fill the worry and longing that Greg had for his son’s life. No words can make up for a physical embrace between a father and son.

So when Cory learned he was headed home, he kept the news a secret from Greg, and staged a full-fledged surprise he never saw coming.
While out for a nice dinner in Austin, Texas, Greg skimmed the menu for what he’d be eating that evening, when all of a sudden the waiter came to take his order.
You have to see his shock when Greg looks up from the menu only to realize it’s Cory, disguised as a waiter.

Cory says he had a speech planned for when he saw his dad again, but when the two reunited, there wasn’t room for words, but rather 14 months of waiting, emotions, and pure joy.
The incredible surprise was caught on camera, and just a glimpse of it is sure to have you sobbing right along with them!
Thank you Corporal Harris for your service!
