Mother Delivers Baby 2 Weeks Early for Her Dying Husband

The following day, on January 19, Mark asked for Savannah when he awoke. This time, he was so week to hold her for more than a moment.

Shortly after, Mark Aulger slipped into a coma, but it was apparent that he was still attempting to connect with his baby born 2 weeks early.

Diane said, “If she cried, he would shake his head and moan.”

Diane wanted her dying husband to feel the presence of their daughter even in his coma.

She explained, “I put her on him when he was in the coma a few times and his hand would move toward her.”

Diane Says Goodbye to Her Dying Husband

Four days after Mark slipped into a coma, he passed away.

But the dying husband was able to spend some precious moment with little Savannah because his wife was willing to have the baby 2 weeks early.

All this happened in 2012, and Savannah is now 10 years old. While she does not remember being with her dad, she knows that she came into this world 2 week early so she could meet him, and he treasured his time with her.

Diane tells her daughter often of her father.

She explains, “He would talk to my stomach when I was pregnant. He was so excited for her.”

Savannah also hears of her father from her siblings.

“The kids go on as if dad is really still here. Mark was a very funny guy,” says Diane. “My kids still tell jokes how they would when he was around. He would have been a wonderful daddy to Savannah.”

The Aulger’s story has moved many, with more than 3 million views of The Doctors story on YouTube.

Shared as far as Australia on their local news, the story even received numerous likes, shares and comments.
