Millions around the world saw the victorious photo of Spain's 29-year-old soccer star, Olga Carmona, celebrating with her jersey in her teeth after she scored the winning (and only!) goal in the World Cup Finals against Australia Sunday. She didn't know at the time that her own father had passed away during the winning match.
‘My husband is on the floor, eyes closed, moaning, ‘Syyydd. I can’t see.’ Is this a joke. He has a flu symptom that doesn’t even exist. Actually I can’t. I should leave. Where is this dude’s mom.’
"I walked into the room just in time to see my daughter whip her little body around on the floor, a look of terror on her face... the tears began to well up in her eyes."
My wife and I have 5 kids and we have fostered 16 other children for varying lengths of time. If I have learned anything over the 20 + years of my marriage, it is that parenting is incredibly hard.
God calls us to have child-like faith. I like to think that includes child-like forgiveness. It's a powerful lesson we can all learn from this incredible 11-year-old today.
