“She Instantly Broke Down Crying”: Woman’s Husband of 54 Years Dies, Random Stranger Surprises Her With Flowers

“Yesterday morning, I took my beautiful friend Juantia out to breakfast. I posted recently about how Juantia’s husband Ross went to be with his Lord a couple of weeks ago after battling illness for some time. As I asked Juanita how she had really been going, she immediately began to weep as she told me all the things she missed about her wonderful husband of 54 years.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I reached out, placed her hand in mine and gently began to stroke it as tears streamed down both our cheeks in grief. All of a sudden, a lady approached our table and said something along the lines of, “hi, I’m sorry to intrude. I don’t know you but I was just driving past and saw you crying so I wanted to buy you these flowers to bring a smile to your face.” Juanita instantly broke down crying as she received a gorgeous bouquet of pink flowers. I informed the lady about how Juanita had just lost her husband, and in response, she kindly wrapped her arms around Juanita, and hugged her tightly.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Through her sobs, Juanita requested the name of this kind lady and she told us it was Kylie. It might have cost Kylie $40 or so to do this, but the kindness and love she showed Juanita through a simple gesture was priceless to both of us and will never ever be forgotten.

Juantia and I spent the rest of our time together exchanging stories where we had been blessed by simple acts of kindness from random strangers that have never left our hearts and minds. I’m so thankful to God for the blessing this was yesterday. If you see a need, and are in a position to do so, go out of your way to pay for the item someone can’t, help someone who is struggling and clearly needs assistance, maybe get the bill for the couple beside you at the restaurant like Dan and I have had done for us, or buy that grieving person a bunch of flowers. You just never know the lasting impact a simple gesture could have on someone for the rest of their life.

In a world where you can be anything, be kind.”
