“I Was Agnostic Going Into That Concert”: Las Vegas Survivor Becomes a Believer in God After Mass Shooting

For many Christians, we have that moment. The exact life event, darkest hour, conversation or simply realization of making the conscious decision to chase after God.

For Taylor Benge, that moment happened on Sunday, October 1, at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It was the epicenter of the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

“I was agnostic going into that concert and I’m a firm believer in God now,” the 21-year-old told CNN on Monday morning.

Recounting the terror he experienced throughout the attack, Taylor told CNN about the “noble” way his sister threw herself on top of him and reiterated how much she loved him.

He says the only reason he’s alive today is because God was looking out for him and spared his life.

“There’s no way that all of that happened and that I made it and I was blessed enough to still be here alive talking to you today.”

It was Taylor’s “coming-to-Jesus” moment that brought purpose to the chaos.

He says he’ll never forget that fateful night and the selflessness he witnessed. It prompted a new journey in him, and a story that God’s just only started writing.
