Chick-fil-A Worker Asks Boss to Prom—Then His Boss Gets an Idea That Goes Mega-Viral

Chick-fil-A has done it again. It seems every month the Christian-owned chain is making headlines for their good deeds, whether it be helping the homeless, supporting the deaf community, or aiding in disaster relief.

And let’s not forget the time they opened their doors on Sunday to literally have church in their restaurant.

This time around, the place famous for the “Lord’s chicken” is getting viral praise for helping out an employee who was having a tough time finding a date for his high school prom.

Tanner Waters, a 17-year-old senior at Winter Springs High School in Casselberry, Florida initially asked his boss to go with him, saying that could be more fun than taking a date.

After admitting how difficult it had been to find somebody to go with, his manager, Billy McClarnon got a different idea.

“I’m like, ‘No, I’m not going to prom with you,'” said Billy. “But if you need some help, I’ll put it on the reader board for you.”

Tanner was thrilled at the brilliant suggestion.

“That would be awesome,” said the teen. “That would help me out a lot.  It takes all the work out of finding (a date).”

Admittedly, he also found the whole thing pretty comical.

“I think it’s funny,” he remarked. “I mean, like, you don’t usually see your name on something like that.”

Because Tanner is only at work a couple days out of the week, his boss even went a step further by printing out the boy’s picture to show to interested customers that may come in while he’s gone.

And though initially a little discouraged by his search, Tanner is one guy who is not willing to sell himself short.

“I’m a great person,” he said, in pitching why a prom date with him would be a blast. “I have a great personality. You’re going to have a great time with me. You get free dinner. Someone is buying us dinner. It’s gonna be a great night.”

Thus far, he’s gotten a few offers but is still holding out for Ms. Right. He hopes to find that special girl a week before prom, which will be held at the end of the month. If all else fails, Tanner’s Chick-fil-A fam has his back once again, as a co-worker agreed to accompany him.

Cheers to Chick-fil-A for giving us a good laugh, and ‘doing good’ in the most unconventional ways that never fail to bring a smile to our faces.

Wishing Tanner the best of luck in his search!
