The Atkinsons now say that everyone in the family is committed to follow Madison’s example, learn CPR, and be equipped to save a life whenever they might need to. As someone who has been writing news stories in the parenting space for years, I also hope they are looking to install some kind of fence or barrier to keep little ones out of the pool when they are not accompanied by an adult, and I suggest that for every family with a pool.
Kirsten Atkinson says that her family now has a different outlook on Thanksgiving thanks to this poolside miracle.
“We were able to celebrate Thanksgiving in a different way, right? It was about, you know, how precious life is and how things can change in the blink of an eye,” she said.
To add to their thankfulness, Atkinson reports that little Maxine is making a full recovery! Here’s hoping sharing Madison and Maxine’s story is inspiring people to get the life-saving CPR and first aid training that make these kinds of miracles possible.
