Mom Poses for Hilarious Back-to-School Photo That’s So Relatable it Hurts!

1

It’s that time of year again folks! With back-to-school in full swing, the pretty and posed portraits of each kid on their first day of school will be blowing up your newsfeed in no time.

Donning their best back-to-school outfit, kids line up on the front porch for mom to snap a picture and document the start of a new chapter.

For most, it’s a bittersweet moment of celebrating a milestone and wishing time would slow down.

But for one Alabama mom, this year’s back-to-school picture was a little less sentimental, and it’s earning her ALL. THE. PRAISE.

On Sunday, Jena Willingham posed for a back-to-school photo with her kids before they set off for their first day on Monday.

Unlike your typical first day of school photo, Jena took the opportunity to show how she really felt about summer break coming to an end.

Grinning ear-to-ear, the mother of three can be seen relaxing in the pool with a drink in her hand, while 11-year-old Wrangler, 7-year-old Emmy and 4-year-old Sykes appear to be less-than-impressed by their mom’s celebration.

Jena Willingham

Jena says she’s joked with her kids all summer about how excited she was to have a relaxing day to herself. With their return to school, that day has come.

“My kids have been fighting all summer, so I kept telling them I was counting down to the first day so I could have a pool day alone,” she said. “Since my youngest was starting this year, it would be the first time in 11 years I didn’t have a baby at home.”

Before posting the photographic gem to Facebook, Jena texted it to her friend Paula, who replied she’s sure it will get “200+ likes.”

Well…7,000 likes and 18,000 shares later, both women are FLOORED by how far it’s gone in just two days time—with media outlets like PEOPLE.com, Huffington Post and New York Daily News covering stories on the all-too-relatable viral picture.

Along with her photo, Jena wished everyone a “Happy First Day of School,” which has now garnered nationwide attention.

As for this mama and her long-awaited freedom, it’s safe to say we know where to find her on her days off—soaking up the sun poolside.

WATCH: Viral Ad Campaign Has Powerful Message About Body Image & Social Media’s Effects on Young Girls

TW: Sensitive content. This post features real stories about body appearance that may be upsetting to some readers.

Dove has been known for years for it’s body-positive branding, including slogans such as “Changing the Face of Beauty” and spearheading efforts like the Self-Esteem Project. Their latest stunning PSA is another example of their commitment to making beauty standards more diverse and less harmful to the children who consume beauty content online. In this mega-viral 3-minute video, the Dove Self-Esteem Project shows the harm that long-term exposure to certain social media content can do to children consuming it every single day.

The ad starts out focusing on a cute little girl named Mary. We watch her grow as the song “You Are So Beautiful to Me” plays in the background. We see a silly, excited, creative young girl blossom into a tween before our eyes. Then, we see Mary receive her first smart phone.

Soon, Mary begins to change. As she grows up, she grows sad. Her smartphone has opened up the world of online beauty content and influencers to her, and we see her beginning to journal about how gross she is, her goal weight, and even joining Weight Watchers for teens. Mary berates herself for her eating habits, and continues to watch content by “perfect” influencers online. As we watch an influencer measure her legs to ensure she has a “thigh gap,” we see Mary take selfie after selfie as she struggles to achieve a certain look.

Finally, we see a thin, pained-looking Mary in the hospital. Her tiny arm has an IV, and she looks frail. Mary has entered treatment for the eating disorder she’s developed in pursuit of that perfect social media-ready body.

Next, we see an older Mary. She looks healthier. Her mom sweetly sings. “you are so beautiful to me.” Mary wipes a tear from her mother’s face as a graphic tells us that she is now in recovery from an eating disorder.

Finally, we see a montage of lovely young women of all colors, shapes, and sizes who are in recovery from various forms of self-harm, body dysmorphia, mental health disorders, and eating disorders. We learn that young children and teens are heavily and negatively influenced by the beauty standards portrayed by online influencers, and thankfully, we also learn that recovery from this is possible.

Dove Takes Action

Parents, I urge you to take action on this! Monitoring the content your kiddos consume on Instagram, TikTok, and other social media apps is extremely important. What’s even more important is starting conversations with your kids before they begin consuming this content about what’s real and attainable when it comes to outward appearance and what’s not, about the fact that healthy looks different on every single body, and that your kids are already wonderfully and beautifully made in God’s image. The reels, videos, and “wellness” tips that online influencers feature can take our kids down an unhealthy path in the pursuit of outer “beauty” and parents are the first line of defense, and the first road block on that path.

Parental involvement is very important, but so is standing up and making a change in what kind of content is allowed on social media apps. That’s why Dove ends the PSA by asking viewers to sign their petition to pass the Kids Online Safety Act. According to Dove, “8 in 10 youth mental health specialists say social media is fueling a mental health crisis.” That’s why they want us to join them “on our mission to make social media a more positive place by taking a stand against its harmful design, so that platforms can be safer for kids.”

The petition is a joint effort between The Dove Self-Esteem Project, Common Sense Media, and Parents Together Action “to help make social media a safer experience for kids.”

As the mom of a teen girl, that’s definitely a mission I can get behind. So, share this post and this amazing viral video and let’s get the word out about how to give our kids a healthier, safer future.

“I’ve Got Your Daughter”: Mom Is Targeted by Terrifyingly Real AI Voice Kidnapping Scam

0

Jennifer DeStefano doesn’t usually answer out-of-town phone numbers, but her 15-year-old daughter was on a ski trip, so out of an abundance of caution, she did. An instant later, she heard the terrifying sound of her daughter’s sobs.

“I pick up the phone, and I hear my daughter’s voice, and it says, ‘Mom!’ and she’s sobbing,” DeStefano told Scottsdale’s 3TV. “I said, ‘What happened?’ And she said, ‘Mom, I messed up,’ and she’s sobbing and crying.”

Before she could ask any questions, a man’s voice came on the phone, and her terror deepened.

“…he’s like, ‘Listen here. I’ve got your daughter. This is how it’s going to go down. You call the police, you call anybody, I’m going to pop her so full of drugs. I’m going to have my way with her, and I’m going to drop her off in Mexico,’” DeStefano recalled. “And at that moment, I just started shaking. In the background, she’s going, ‘Help me, Mom. Please help me. Help me,’ and bawling.”

DeStefano’s fear and panic were real, but her daughter’s voice was not. Her ordeal, in which the man demanded $1 million for her daughter’s safe return, was all an evil scam, perpetrated by criminals who use artificial intelligence to clone people’s voices.

The AI used to scam DeStefano was so good, that she completely believed she was talking to her daughter and that she was in grave danger. “It was never a question of who is this? It was completely her voice. It was her inflection. It was the way she would have cried,” she said. “I never doubted for one second it was her. That’s the freaky part that really got me to my core.”

Thankfully, DeStefano was at another daughter’s dance class and surrounded by other parents who sprung into action. One called 911, while another called DeStefano’s husband. He called their daughter, and within four minutes was able to confirm that she was completely and totally safe.

AI Scams on the Rise

Subbarao Kambhampati, a computer science professor specializing in AI, told 3TV that AI voice cloning technology is quickly evolving with little regulation or oversight. “You can no longer trust your ears,” he said.

“In the beginning, it would require a larger amount of samples. Now there are ways in which you can do this with just three seconds of your voice. Three seconds. And with the three seconds, it can come close to how exactly you sound,” he continued.

With this kind of technology running wild, what can parents do when they receive a very real-sounding call? For starters, says Dan Mayo, the assistant special agent in charge of the FBI’s Phoenix office, keep kids’ or other loved ones’ voice clips locked down. Public profiles on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, or any other app are fair game for scammers. Accounts should be locked down on private to prevent a person’s voice from being stolen and cloned.

Red Flags of an AI Scam

Additionally, he says, be aware of red flags. One is that scammers will often demand that ransom be paid in cryptocurrency or gift cards. Additionally, the calls always come from a number you’re unfamiliar with. “If the phone number is coming from an area code that you’re not familiar with, that should be one red flag,” Mayo adds. “Second red flag; international numbers. Sometimes they will call from those as well. The third red flag; they will not allow you to get off the phone and talk to your significant other. That’s a problem.”

Bottom line: be safe, and be aware. If you get one of these calls, keep the person talking until someone else near you can call police and/or confirm that your loved one is safe. And though it may seem so scary and real, try to take breaths and keep calm.

DeStefano says that after her daughter was confirmed safe, she completely broke down as relief washed over her. The fears and the “what ifs” were real to her, even though they were just a cruel scam designed to play on every parent’s worst nightmare.

Be informed and keep your accounts locked down, friends! Knowledge is the best weapon we have to defeat AI scams.

Candace Cameron Bure Reflects on Her Surprising Role as a Satan-Worshiping Witch and the Importance of Redemption

0

Candace Cameron Bure, widely known for her wholesome roles in Full House and her outspoken Christian faith, recently opened up about a surprising chapter in her acting career—portraying a Satan-worshiping witch on the popular ’90s sitcom Boy Meets World. The role, which aired on a Halloween episode titled “The Witches of Pennbrook,” was a significant departure from the characters she’s best known for, like the beloved DJ Tanner.

A Surprising Role for a Familiar Face

During an episode of the Pod Meets World podcast, hosted by former Boy Meets World cast members Rider Strong, Danielle Fishel, and Will Friedle, Candace discussed how she came to take on the role of Millie, the evil witch. The decision, she explained, was primarily driven by her identity as an actress and her desire to explore different kinds of roles.

“They asked me if I would feel comfortable playing a witch, and my first thought was, ‘Well, I’m an actress. This is fun. It’s a sitcom. It’s comedy,’” Candace recalled. At the time, the role seemed like an exciting challenge—a chance to step outside her usual typecasting and try something new.

Why Boy Meets World Felt Like a Safe Space

Despite the role being a stark contrast to her usual family-friendly characters, Candace felt comfortable accepting it because it was Boy Meets World, a show with a reputation for being a safe, family-oriented program. “It still felt like a very safe place to do that because of what the show was all about in itself,” she explained. The show’s overall tone and values made her feel secure in her decision, even though it was an unusual part for her.

“It’s a family show,” Candace added, highlighting how the context of the show reassured her that the role wouldn’t conflict with her personal beliefs or image.

The Tension Between Acting and Personal Beliefs

However, Candace also admitted that playing the role wasn’t entirely without discomfort. Looking back, she acknowledges that some aspects of the character made her feel uneasy. “It was a little weird,” she confessed. “I mean, I remember saying some of those lines now having watched it, and I’m like, yeah, this doesn’t totally feel good.”

As she revisits the episode today, certain moments stand out to her as particularly uncomfortable, such as when she had to declare herself “the queen of darkness” in a menacing, growly voice. While she approached the role with the mindset of an actor—willing to explore different personas for the sake of the craft—she now views it with a more critical eye, especially given her strong Christian convictions.

The Importance of Redemption in Storytelling

Reflecting on her past roles, Candace shared that she now places a higher value on stories that feature redemption. For her, it’s not just about playing a character but about the message the story ultimately conveys. “If there was a part that called for the evil witch, but it was redemptive at the end, that’s what I’m always looking for in my storytelling and stories of faith, whether they have faith or not,” she said.

Candace’s emphasis on redemption aligns with her broader commitment to her faith, which has become increasingly central to her career choices. She made it clear that if a role were to glorify evil without any redemptive arc, she would now decline it. “If the through line was like, ‘Evil is good. Let’s keep practicing this,’ my answer would be no,” she asserted.

Newlywed Couple and Bride’s Mother Tragically Killed Just Days After Wedding in Colorado Highway Crash

0

A season of celebration turned into an unimaginable tragedy for a family after a newlywed couple and the bride’s mother were killed in a devastating accident on Interstate 70 in Colorado, just days after the couple exchanged vows. The heartbreaking incident has left a family and community in deep mourning as they grapple with the sudden and tragic loss.

A Joyful Beginning Cut Short

Ruben Rodriguez and Juliana Rodriguez-Plata had just begun their new life together as husband and wife, celebrating their wedding on Saturday, August 10th. The couple was full of joy, having just celebrated their 1-year-old son Daniel’s birthday the day after their wedding. But on the morning of Thursday, August 15th, their joyful season was abruptly ended by a fatal crash that claimed both of their lives.

The couple, along with their young son and Juliana’s parents, were traveling on I-70 when a tragic accident unfolded. According to the Wheat Ridge Police Department, a semi-truck traveling eastbound lost control, causing its load of large pipes to spill across the highway. The massive pipes, which weighed approximately 500 pounds each, scattered across both lanes of the highway, leading to a catastrophic chain reaction.

A Family Devastated

The pipes from the semi struck the vehicle carrying Ruben, Juliana, and their family, leading to an accident that involved at least seven vehicles. Tragically, Ruben, Juliana, and Juliana’s mother, Luz Melba Martinez, lost their lives in the crash. Juliana’s father, Carlos Plata, was also in the vehicle but survived the impact, though he was left to witness the unimaginable loss of his daughter, son-in-law, and wife.

“I saw when the pipes were going, so I just closed my eyes. No reaction, I just felt the impact and I woke up out of nowhere and just saw the baby crying and everyone unconscious, not waking up,” Carlos recounted to Fox 31. “It was terrible, the accident, the image, all the blood. They were just instantly dead. Seeing my whole family, my daughter, and my wife dead.”

Carlos and Luz had traveled from Colombia to celebrate their daughter’s wedding, a joyous occasion that was meant to bring their family together. Now, Carlos is left to bear the unimaginable pain of losing both his daughter and wife within days of each other.

Community and Family in Mourning

The tragic news has left the couple’s family and friends in shock and sorrow. On a GoFundMe page set up to support the family, Janell Rodriguez expressed the overwhelming grief the family is experiencing. “Today has been one of the hardest days we have ever faced. We are heartbroken to share that Ruben Rodriguez, Juliana Rodriguez Plata, and Luz Melba Martinez were tragically taken from us in an accident,” she wrote. “Ruben and Juliana had just begun their beautiful journey together, having celebrated their wedding this past Saturday. They leave behind their precious 1-year-old son, Daniel.”

Juliana’s niece and nephew, Tony and Esli Rodriguez, shared their disbelief and sorrow with Fox 31. “It fully hasn’t hit me yet, but I just think about it and I just want to cry because he was happy, he met her, he had a kid. I’ve never seen him this happy,” Esli said.

Teacher’s Back-to-School ‘Baggage’ Activity Goes Viral for ALL the Right Reasons

0

Seasoned Middle School teacher Karen Lowe has had her fair share of introductions over the last two decades of molding young minds. To kick off the school year, she tried a new tactic called “The Baggage Activity” to get kids to open up and share with their new classmates. When she first decided to try the activity, Karen had no idea the incredible doors it would open for understanding and respect in her classroom.

A couple of years ago, on the first day of school, Karen asked her students what it meant to have baggage.

“They mostly said it was hurtful stuff you carry around on your shoulders,” Karen wrote on Facebook.

This starts my 22nd year of teaching middle school. Yesterday was quite possibly one of the most impactful days I have…

Posted by Karen Wunderlich Loewe on Friday, August 23, 2019

To do the activity, she had each of them write down something they were carrying.

“I asked them to write down on a piece of paper what was bothering them, what was heavy on their heart, what was hurting them, etc.”

No names were to be on the paper, and when they finished writing their baggage, they wadded up the paper and threw it across the room.

One by one, each student picked up a piece of paper and took turns reading out loud what their classmate wrote.

The baggage these students are carrying is HEAVY.

“Things like suicide, parents in prison, drugs in their family, being left by their parents, death, cancer…and on and on.”

Karen says in her 22 years of teaching middle school kids, she’s never been so moved to tears, listening to her students open up and share their burdens with the class.

“The kids who read the papers would cry because what they were reading was tough. The person who shared (if they chose to tell us it was them) would cry sometimes too.”

“It was an emotionally draining day, but I firmly believe my kids will judge a little less, love a little more, and forgive a little faster.”

She didn’t know it at the time, but doing the baggage activity would radically change the way Karen and her students LIVE this school year. That small little activity changed lives in her classroom and beyond—and that was just the sixth day of school.

Jana Duggar Is Getting Married! The ‘Cinderella Duggar’ Has Found Her Prince After Years of Being Single

0

After years of speculation and countless rumors, it appears that Jana Duggar, the oldest daughter of the Duggar family, is finally preparing to walk down the aisle. According to a marriage license filed in Arkansas this week, the 34-year-old former 19 Kids and Counting star is set to marry Stephen Wissmann — a name that has been linked to Jana for years, though she’s never publicly confirmed a relationship.

The news has sparked a wave of excitement among Duggar fans, many of whom have been eagerly waiting to see when, or if, Jana would follow in her siblings’ footsteps and start her own family. The marriage license, which was shared on Instagram by vlogger Katie Joy of Without a Crystal Ball, reveals that Jana and 31-year-old Stephen Wissmann applied for the license on August 14, 2024.

In a lengthy YouTube video posted by Without a Crystal Ball, trusted sources close to the family have shared the couples’ wedding website, which had the date of their wedding listed for August 15th. The site also includes several sweet engagement photos of the pair who look beautiful together, happy and comfortable.

For those who have followed the Duggar family closely, the name Stephen Wissmann may ring a bell. Stephen is the older brother of Hannah Wissmann, who is married to Jana’s brother, Jeremiah Duggar. The two families have known each other for years, and given the close ties between the families, it’s perhaps no surprise that love blossomed between Jana and Stephen.

Romance Rumors

Rumors of a romance between the two date back to April 2021, when Jana was spotted sitting next to Stephen at a family Christmas gathering. Since then, fans have speculated about the nature of their relationship, with some even suggesting that the couple was secretly engaged or married.

Then in July, Jana shared moments from a visit to Charleston, South Carolina, where she was seen spending time with her fraternal twin brother, John David Duggar, and his wife, Abby Duggar. The post featured Jana wearing a silver ring on her left hand, which immediately caught the attention of her followers.

For many fans, the excitement is bittersweet, as they wish they could watch Jana’s wedding unfold on television, just as they did with her sisters’ weddings.

On social media, particularly on the DuggarsSnark subreddit, fans are buzzing with anticipation. One commenter expressed their eagerness, writing, “GUYS HOW ARE WE GONNA WATCH?!?!?!? I need to see everything. I’ve been waiting YEARS for this.” Another added, “The J’wedding of the century is upon us.”

The Cinderella Duggar Finds Her Prince

Often dubbed “The Cinderella Duggar,” Jana has long been patient in her quest for love and marriage, while adhering to her family’s extreme conservative values. Throughout the years, she has remained steadfast in her faith and committed to her family, even as the world watched and wondered about her future. Now, as she steps into this new season of life with Stephen by her side, we can only imagine the joy and excitement that lies ahead.

Husband Is Asked if He’s Bored of Being With His Wife of 10 Years—His Response WINS The Internet

The age of ever-increasing consumerism, “me first,” and “do what makes YOU feel good” (at any expense), has lent ourselves to a microwave culture that wants what we want NOW and wants to dispose of what’s not making us happy and what has us feeling unhappy even quicker.

This mentality has unfortunately crept into marriages and painted the cliché ‘the grass is greener’ in even brighter colors.

With approximately half of all marriages ending in divorce, it’s clear that spouses have become disposable commodities more than ever. We crave novelty, romance, and butterflies and loathe feeling unhappy, all while neglecting the fact that true love is a choice, not a feeling.

As stated by theologian John Piper, “I believe that most couples who stay married for [50] or [60] years fall in and out of love numerous times. I say that with not the slightest hint of trying to be funny. It is, in my judgment, almost ludicrous to think that we experience ‘being in love’ the same for the entire [60] years, just like we felt at the beginning of that relationship. That’s just utterly crazy.”

Similarly, down-to-earth dad blogger DadMum decided to paint the reality of an enduring marriage after he was questioned if he felt unhappy with the “monotony of everyday life” after being with the same woman for 10 years.

With over 270,000 shares on Facebook, his wise words of advice about “growing together and finding new reasons to fall in love all over again” have struck a chord with spouses across the world. Read the post in full below:

[**Edited for language]

“We’ve been together almost 10 years now.

Yesterday I got a message asking if I felt unhappy with the monotony of everyday life in a longstanding relationship. If my wife has gotten a bit boring over time and how I’ve adapted to that or if I’m still expecting more from her. You know… to be more exciting or fun loving ….

Well here’s the thing…

After [10] years a lot of our days can feel the same. We might be feeling unhappy. They’re easily lost in the weeks into the months into the years. But that doesn’t mean they’re monotonous. It just means we have [a lot] going on right now.

She doesn’t jump my bones at any chance she gets; and she’s not exactly the promiscuous 18-year-old that once wooed me at a party. But that doesn’t make her boring. It just means we’ve got responsibilities that are a little more on her mind right now.

And yes, she can be a little more tired and snappy nowadays. But that doesn’t mean she’s not still the fun-loving chick I once dated. It just means there’s plenty of [stuff] going on that she might be stressed about.

You can’t expect things to never change in a relationship.Sometimes you might be feeling unhappy. Because they do. As time goes on [it] becomes a little less fairytale and a little more life. If she’s stressed, try to take more of the load from her. If she’s tired, let her rest. If she’s anxious, tell her she’s doing a great job and if she’s insecure, tell her you love her more than you ever did.

It’s not about falling in love once and riding that out until the end of your days.

It’s not about judging them against who they used to be.

It’s about growing together and finding new reasons to fall in love all over again.

But one thing’s for sure… don’t for one second think it’s all on her to make things better or more exciting. You can’t expect her to act like a princess if she’s treated like a slave.

Let her know you’re in it together. It’s up to both of us to keep the spark going!

I think she’s all right.”

Dad Learns Both of His Teen Daughters Were Killed in a Car Accident by Tracking Their Cell Phones

0
A New York father’s worst fears were realized when he learned that both of his daughters had tragically died in a car accident thanks to the help of his cell phone tracking app.
Brian Trumble, the father of 19-year-old Hailey and 17-year-old Shelby, had been trying to reach his daughters on the evening of August 1, only to be met with silence. Growing increasingly concerned, he decided to track their location using the Find My Friends app, never imagining the heartbreak that awaited him.

The accident occurred in the small town of Ira, where Hailey and Shelby were traveling eastbound on Ira Hill Road in their Chevy Cobalt. According to a news release from the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, the sisters’ vehicle crested a hill near the intersection of Farnam Road, veered into the opposite lane, and collided with an oncoming 2016 Jeep Cherokee driven by 59-year-old Robin Latham. Latham survived the crash but sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Sadly, both Hailey and Shelby Trumble did not survive the accident. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, with authorities yet to determine what caused the sisters’ vehicle to cross into oncoming traffic.

As Brian anxiously tracked his daughters’ location, he was led to the crash site, where the reality of the situation became clear. Speaking to Syracuse.com, Brian expressed the depth of his loss, saying, “It’s a tremendous loss. It’s never going to be the same again.”

A Fundraiser for the Family

The Trumble family’s grief has been met with an outpouring of support from their community and beyond. A GoFundMe was created to assist the family with funeral expenses and other unforeseen costs, as there was no life insurance to cover the tragic loss. Karrie Wallace, who organized the fundraiser on behalf of Brian and his son Riley, wrote, “This GoFundMe is for funeral expenses and unforeseen medical bills… allowing them to focus on healing without the added burden of financial stress.” The fundraiser has garnered nearly $50,000 since it was first launched.

The response to the fundraiser has been filled with messages of sympathy and kindness. One donor wrote, “My heart aches for your family as you navigate this unimaginable loss. Though we are strangers, please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.” Another shared, “Just read an article about how the girls could make others’ and each other laugh. Pond fishing and other beautiful adventures. RIP.”

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident, with multiple agencies assisting at the scene. Authorities have asked anyone with information regarding the crash to contact Detective Lieutenant Rob Franklin.

As the investigation continues, the Trumble family is left to cope with an unimaginable loss. Hailey and Shelby were more than just daughters; they were beloved sisters, friends, and bright spirits who brought joy to those around them. The loss of these two young lives has left a void that can never be filled, and the community mourns alongside the Trumble family during this difficult time.

Quit Doing These 8 Things for Your Teen This School Year if You Want to Raise an Adult

How do we raise competent adults if we’re always doing everything for our kids?

Don’t judge me if you happen to see my kids eating packaged Ritz crackers for school lunch.

Don’t judge me if they’re on the sidelines of PE because they forgot their uniform.

Don’t judge me if they didn’t turn in their homework because it’s still sitting home on their desk.

What some may view as a lack of parenting, is what I deem parenting on purpose, as we work to build necessary life skills in our kids.

I stopped making daily breakfasts and packing school lunches long ago.

I don’t feel obligated to deliver forgotten items left behind at home.

School projects and homework are not any part of my existence.

How do we raise competent adults if we’re always doing everything for our kids?

8 Things You Should Stop Doing For Your Teenager:

1. Waking them up in the morning

If you are still waking little Johnny up in the mornings, it’s time to let an alarm clock do its job. My foursome has been expected to get themselves up on early school mornings since they started middle school. There are days one will come racing out with only a few minutes to spare before they have to be out the door. The snooze button no longer feels luxurious when it’s caused you to miss breakfast.

I heard a Mom actually voice out loud that her teen sons were just so cute still, that she loved going in and waking them up every morning. Please stop. I find my sons just as adorable as you do, but our goal is to raise well-functioning adults here.

2. Making their breakfast and packing their lunch

My morning alarm is the sound of the kids clanging cereal bowls. My job is to make sure there is food in the house so that they can eat breakfast and pack a lunch.

One friend asked, yeah but how do you know what they’re bringing for school lunch? I don’t. I know what food I have in my pantry and it’s on them to pack up what they feel is a good lunch. It will only be a few short years and I will have no idea what they are eating for any of their meals away at college. Free yourself away from the PB and J station now.

Brittany Mahomes Shares Viral Sticker Hack She Uses to Get Her Kids to Eat — and It’s Surprisingly Effective!

0

When it comes to getting little ones to eat, parents are always on the lookout for clever tricks that actually work. Enter the latest parenting hack that’s making waves: the sticker hack. It might sound a little out there, but parents swear by simply putting a sticker on their child’s forehead to get them to eat, and it’s as simple as that.

It all started when Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, shared her experience with this quirky method. The 28-year-old mom took to social media to reveal how she gets her 20-month-old son, Bronze, to eat his meals without a fuss. Her secret? A sticker on his forehead.

In a series of Instagram Stories, Brittany showed off how she places a sticker — like a cute dinosaur or plant — right on Bronze’s forehead. And just like that, mealtime becomes a breeze. “I put a sticker on his forehead and he eats every time,” Brittany wrote, adding a few laughing emojis to show her own amusement at the situation. “Please tell me how this makes sense,” she added, clearly still surprised by how well it works.

And she’s not alone. Parents across the internet are starting to give this hack a try, with many finding similar success. The idea is that the sticker distracts the child just enough to get them to focus on their food, rather than resisting or playing with it. It’s a fun and harmless way to turn what can sometimes be a stressful situation into something lighthearted and effective.

Brittany’s followers loved the idea, and many other parents have started to test it out with their own kids. Some report that it turns mealtime into a fun game, where their children are more interested in eating just to keep the sticker in place. Others have found that it breaks up the monotony of eating, especially for picky eaters who might be reluctant to try new foods.

As Brittany and Patrick prepare to welcome their third child, a baby girl, it seems like they’ve got a solid handle on the challenges of parenting two young kids. And with football season just around the corner, it’s nice to see them making the most of their time together as a family.

So, if you’re a parent struggling with a picky eater, why not give the sticker-on-the-forehead trick a try? It might just be the simple, silly solution you’ve been looking for. After all, if it works for Brittany Mahomes, it might just work for you too!

WATCH: Dad Interviews Daughter On the First Day of School Every Year for 13 Years

Back to school time is here, and moms and dads everywhere are having all the feels. I know I am, as my youngest started junior high this year, and is now the exact same height as his mama! The beginning of a new school year is the perfect time to look back and how fast and how far your child has grown. One Washington dad, Kevin Scruggs, doesn’t have to look far to capture those memories: he interviewed his daughter on video on the first day of school every single year, from kindergarten to her last first day.

Now, that video archive, edited and compiled to just a few minutes, has gone and continues to go viral. Scruggs’ video of his daughter Madison’s first days has nearly a quarter million views on YouTube.

Scruggs, who made a similar video for his older daughter Mackenzie, told Good Morning America why he embarked on this project so many years ago.

“I thought it would be cool when they graduate to them to see their whole career in one short clip,”he said. “I wanted to have something to remember.”

But what does his subject have to say about her childhood gone viral? Well, Madison doesn’t seem to mind. She told GMA that she enjoyed seeing herself grow up, and appreciates how much her father loves her and her family.

“It was [also] cool to see my personality change,” Madison said. “I’m really appreciative of how much time my dad put into it, how much he loves us and how much he and my mom do for us.”

Even though Madison is not my child, I got a little teary watching her grow up on camera and her different levels of excitement (or not!) about each first day of school. It definitely made me wish I had something similar for my kids. I have photos from each first day, which is great, but I would love it if, like Scruggs, I also had a snapshot of their voices, feelings, and personalities through the years. This idea is truly genius and I can see why it has touched so many people!

So, moms and dads, if you’ve got little ones, take a page from Scruggs’ book and take (and save!!) those first day of school interviews. What a gift a video like this is not only for Madison herself, but for her parents and her future family, too.
