Night owls— you are my people. We can not be changed. We are just as productive. We are just as valuable. And I don’t know who needs to hear this, but it’s totally acceptable to cook tacos or rearrange furniture at midnight.
As this world re-opens, people may do things that stir up a lot of feelings in us. And I get it, one careless act can affect many when it comes to corona. But just remember, the vast majority are doing their best.
Remember those elastic bracelets people wore years ago that said “WWJD?” (What would Jesus do?) I wondered what Jesus would do, but I've also spent a lifetime wondering “WWMD?” What would Mom do? Or think? Or say?
This pandemic has forced me to become the kind of nurse I didn’t want to be, hurried, harried, just struggling to keep people alive, keep my head above the water.
"I saw healthy, young people die just as often as I saw elderly, sick people die. These people died alone. Their families were given a FaceTime goodbye, which to me, felt cheap. I didn’t know how to apologize for not being enough."
