7 Ways to Make Time for Prayer in a Busy Schedule

0

Life can often feel overwhelming with endless to-do lists, work commitments, family obligations, and social activities. In the midst of the busyness, it’s easy to feel like there’s little room for quiet moments with God. However, making time for prayer is essential for spiritual growth, peace, and direction. Prayer anchors us, helping us to realign our priorities and keep our faith at the center of our lives.

Here are 7 practical ways to make time for prayer in a busy schedule, ensuring that you stay connected with God, no matter how hectic life becomes.

Making Time for Prayer Is a Matter of Intentionality

Ultimately, making time for prayer comes down to being intentional with your schedule and your priorities. When you intentionally seek God in prayer, you’ll find that He meets you where you are, even in the middle of your busiest days. Prayer is not about perfection but about consistently opening your heart to God’s presence (Isaiah 41:10) and guidance.

1. Prioritize Prayer as a Non-Negotiable

The first step to making time for prayer is deciding that it’s a non-negotiable part of your day. Often, we treat prayer as an optional activity that can be skipped when we’re busy, but to develop a consistent prayer life, it needs to become a priority.

RELATED: 20 Prayers to Pray Throughout a Busy Day

This doesn’t mean adding another task to your day; it’s about shifting your mindset. See prayer as essential as eating, sleeping, or working out. When you make prayer a must-do activity, you’ll find that you automatically begin to carve out time for it, even on the busiest of days.

2. Schedule Prayer Time on Your Calendar

One of the most effective ways to make time for prayer is to schedule it just like you would a meeting or appointment. This could be five minutes in the morning before your day starts, during your lunch break, or in the evening before bed. By putting it on your calendar, you are creating a visual reminder that prayer is a key part of your day.

If you use a digital calendar, set a daily alert to remind you to pause and pray. Over time, these scheduled moments will help build a habit of consistent prayer.

3. Incorporate Prayer Into Daily Activities

If your schedule doesn’t allow for extended prayer times, consider incorporating prayer into your regular daily activities. You don’t always need to find a quiet room or a set time to pray; God is present with you at every moment. Praying during everyday activities allows you to connect with Him throughout your busy day.

Some ideas include:

  • Praying while commuting to work or school
  • Offering short prayers while doing household chores
  • Taking a moment to pray while walking or exercising
  • Praying while waiting in line or at appointments

These moments may seem small, but they allow for continuous communication with God, and over time, they build a deeper prayer life.

4. Start Your Day with Prayer

Beginning your day with prayer is one of the most powerful ways to ensure you make time for it, no matter what happens later on. The morning is often when we have the most control over our schedule, and starting the day with even just five to ten minutes of prayer can set a positive and peaceful tone.

Wake up a few minutes earlier to spend time in quiet prayer, thanking God for a new day, asking for guidance, and surrendering your plans to Him. Starting your day with this intentional focus on God will help you carry that sense of peace throughout the day, even when things get busy.

Dying Mom Loses It After Watching Son With Down Syndrome Score His First Touchdown

Michigan’s Novi High School senior Robby Heil is the official “hydration manager” for his high school football team. He has Down syndrome, but any player or coach on the team would tell you he’s been an integral part of the Wildcat family for the last three and a half years.

During one of the games his senior season, Robby got to play a different role for Friday night lights.

Against South Lyon East High School, coach put him in as running back. Robby was hoping to score his first touchdown for his mom.

Robby’s mom Debbie is terminally ill with bone cancer. She had no idea he was suiting up to play in the game.

Robby didn’t waste a minute living his dream of scoring a Wildcat touchdown. The ball was snapped to him and just like that he ran it more than 30 yards into the end zone.

From the sidelines, Debbie watched through tears before falling to her knees.

“I dropped to the ground because I was so emotional when I saw him make that touchdown,” Debbie says. “I’ve always been proud of him being the water boy, or as people call him, the ‘hydration manager,’ but this was incredible, he’s Rudy tonight, he’s Rudy.”

Debbie refers to Rudy Ruettiger, the main character in the movie Rudy, which tells the story of a college student who dreams of walking on to the football team at University of Notre Dame. Like Robby, Rudy had his own disability to overcome. When he finally gets his shot at running a play, Rudy sacks the quarterback at the end of the game, helping the Fighting Irish to victory.

Just like in the movie, the entire football stadium cheered Robby on in his shining moment, chanting “Robby, Robby” from the stands.

Robby’s coach says it’s a moment they will remember forever.

And to cap off Robby’s best football season yet, he was crowned Novi High School’s Homecoming King:

The Day My 13-Yr-Old Boy Became a Man & Taught Me How to Be a Mom Without Saying a Word

0

I didn’t mean to cry.

I was stirring dinner and a salty tear or two might have splashed into the soup.

I had just sent all three of my kids to their rooms because, honestly, they were safer there.

One of my kids was so whiny from a sleepover my eye twitched every third word she said, my middle one was following me around making noises and my teen had just hurt my feelings.

I stirred soup and thought about all the things that had gone wrong in the last hour and how I had handled them and I cried.

I looked up and saw my 13-year-old son standing in the doorway.

step back and look at the great kids in front of you

He didn’t say a word. He walked over and wrapped his arms around me and he hugged me for a long time. He’s nearly six-foot tall, this gangly boy-child of mine, and all I could think was, “He is acting like a man.” And I swallowed the enormous lump in my throat.

He spoke for his siblings and said, “We’re sorry, Mom,” and then he was gone.

I stood in the kitchen and thought about how quickly my perception of my kids gets distorted. I live so upclose to them. I’m their manager, their evaluator, cheerleader and chief overseer. I scrutinize and organize and sometimes forget to realize who they are right now and not just who they are becoming.

I mean, yeah, I know I am blessed with wonderful kids. I know this.

But in the moments when I feel like their behavior is a reflection of the job I’m doing as mom, I don’t always remember it.

Our home is their practice field. It is their learning ground. This is where I want them to get it wrong. The failures aren’t forever and they don’t define them—or me.

I live in this place—this close space of motherhood—where it’s easier to pick out what we get wrong and forget to acknowledge the countless things we get right.

I like to think and write, challenge and inspire us to be better because I want to be better and I want to raise grateful kids. But I think it’s also good to stop and acknowledge where we are because that helps us see how far we’ve come.

I’m always talking about gratitude and perspective (and heck, I wrote a 50,000 word book on it), but I’m learning when it’s hard to see the truth close up (especially on hard days), sometimes we have to step back for it to come into focus. It’s all in how we look at it, but we do have to stop and look.

I called my kids down for dinner. The rocky afternoon was long forgotten as we fought over the biggest squares from the brownie pan.

When I step back and change my perspective, when I turn my magnified view into a bird’s eye one, I don’t see their mistakes.

No, I see really great kids standing in front of me.

And that helps me see that their mom is pretty great, too.

‘Family Feud’ Contestants Refuse to Answer Question About Their Wives in Bed—Showing America Chivalry Is Not Dead

0

Family Feud has been gracing our television sets for over 30 years. It’s easily one of the greatest game shows of all time as each week, two different families compete against each other to win cash prizes by guessing the most popular responses to general survey questions.

The show is hosted by Steve Harvey, who has gone viral for several reasons in the seven years since he took over the show—but this one is different.

The clip features a face-off between Michael, a history teacher, and Terry, a U.S. Marine.

Screen-Shot-2017-01-10-at-11.59.42-AMYoutube: @Family Feud

Steve Harvey presents the survey question, “We asked 100 married men, which of the seven dwarfs describes your wife in bed?”

Both men who were previously ready to beat each other to the buzzer and earn points for their families, now stood still. Neither in any rush to hit the buzzer.

Screen-Shot-2017-01-10-at-10.24.21-AMYoutube: @Family Feud

Their sealed lips and the looks on their faces says it all.

Both husbands shook their heads at the idea of speaking about their wives in the bedroom.

Harvey waits expectantly for one of the men to provide an answer. After all, this IS for cash.

Finally, after what seems like forever in game show time, Terry hesitantly reaches for the buzzer.

“This is just to get on the board,” he says. “Is it Bashful?”

As soon as the words left his mouth, Terry quickly turned back to look at his family, certainly bashful himself about the question that was posed.

Harvey then turned to Michael who was not about to risk anything but the chance for his family to kick off the next round. The contestant passed on his turn altogether to avoid talking about his REAL prize back home.

“There’s a guy over there that this meant nothing to him,” Steve chuckled as he pointed at the man who threw the round for all the right reasons.

Terry ultimately took the round, but both men proved that chivalry is far from dead.

Check out the viral clip for yourself below, which has now been viewed over 20 million times:

The Internet has erupted in praise over the respect that both of these husbands showed.

And for the record, the top answer to Steve Harvey’s survey question was “Happy.”

Quick-Thinking Uber Driver Saves 16-Year-Old Passenger From Sex Trafficking

0

Like most Uber drivers, Keith Avila sees his fair share of “strange.” It’s expected by anyone who volunteers their time and transportation to strangers who need a lift. Keith never could have expected that driving people around would actually save a 16-year-old girl’s life.

“The worst thing I thought would happen when driving Uber is that I would be getting drunk passengers and I would have to handle them,” Avila told NBC. “All my life, I thought about people throwing up in the car as the worst scenario.”

But he didn’t realize just how much worse it could get…

After picking up two women and a teenage girl near Sacramento, California, Keith spent only a few minutes with the three passengers, but it didn’t take long for him to recognize something wasn’t right.

“It struck me as odd,” Keith says about the incredibly short skirt the teen girl was sporting in his passenger seat. “She was so young.”

The $8 fare brought them to a Holiday Inn nearby where he dropped off the trio. But before arriving, the two women in the back seat were giving the teen some “odd” instructions.

“When you’re hugging him, just ask—do you have any weapons, pat him down.”

They also talked openly about delivering the teen to a “John.”

Keith was alarmed by the statements. After letting the women out at the hotel, the Uber driver quickly alerted police. He captured the aftermath on Facebook live, warning others about the dangers of sex trafficking. It’s not some violent thing that’s happening in distant lands overseas. It’s happening right where we live.

Officers arrested the women, saying they had arranged for the 16-year-old girl to have sex with a man.

Sex trafficking and human trafficking is happening everywhere in THIS country. It’s modern-day slavery, and the only way we can put an end to it is by recognizing the signs, and being willing to say something when things don’t look right.

Pornography Is ‘Open Door’ to Demonic Evil That Can ‘Infiltrate Our Lives’: Bible Teacher’s Warning

0

The Bible paints vivid stories of spiritual affliction, possession, and healing — stirring accounts that have captivated Christians for over two millennia, while also sparking vibrant conversations about the relationship between good and evil.

The discussion over spiritual warfare and the levels to which people face affliction has also ignited ongoing theological debate. Among the terms to emerge in this ever-complex discussion is “deliverance,” a word sometimes interchangeably used for “exorcism.”

“Deliverance is the act of getting free from the burdens and the trauma that the enemy has had an inroad into our lives for,” Bible teacher Jareb Nott recently told “Billy Hallowell’s Playing With Fire Podcast.” “Deliverance [is] simply a matter of ministering freedom and removing the demonic attachments that really have come into our lives.”

Nott and his wife, Petra, are coauthors of the book “The Science of Deliverance: How Spiritual Freedom Brings Physical Healing,” and operate a deliverance ministry and train others to help set people free from demonic influence.

Listen to them explain their views on how pornography and other issues have demonic elements:

Nott explained the differences between people who are completely overtaken by the demonic — individuals who have fully committed themselves to evil — and those who struggle with certain issues or in various arenas in their lives.

Full possession, he said, is rare. But issues like pornography, among other struggles, are far less irregular and can open believers up to spiritual problems.

“Most people, they’re not going to fully commit their lives to Satan,” he said. “What we see frequently is there are areas in our life, say the gates of pornography. … our eyes, our ears. The things that we are involved in because they’re enticing.”

When people “dip their toes” into such sinful behavior, Nott said it can have dire consequences.

“We dip our toes in,” he said. “That’s the open door for that particular issue and that particular demon to infiltrate our lives.”

Nott differentiated between ministering to a person completely overtaken by evil and one who has engaged in pornography or some other moral struggle.

“If I had to minister to someone who was fully taken over and possessed to that degree, it would potentially be a more deliberate, longer-term effort for that individual to come to the knowledge of Christ, because you’re walking them through first of all renouncing and repenting for all of the participation that they have willingly given themselves to,” he said.

Nott continued, “For those areas in their life whereas somebody who maybe dabbled in the Ouija board or pornography, those are areas where we can quickly renounce, repent. We break the evil attachment and we command the demon to go and it’s a done deal.”

Despite the difference in approach, “freedom remains the same,” he said.

Nott is hardly the first person to connect pornography to the demonic realm.

In an interview with Faithwire earlier this year, Sathiya Sam, a Christian author who has developed a systematic process to help men overcome pornography addiction, also highlighted “a demonic component” to porn consumption.

“The reality is, when you engage in something as toxic as pornography, you’re almost like literally dancing with the devil, like you’re really engaging with something demonic and giving him a foothold,” Sam said, noting that, while some men might experience early success in overcoming pornography, many will relapse “because they have not built the spiritual maturity to actually sustain the breakthrough.”

Hear what Jareb and Petra have to say about these issues here.

Wow, I Literally Wept When This Adulterous Wife Texted Her Husband, “Can I Come Home?”

0

Growing up, Kathryn truly didn’t understand the meaning of love.

For multiple generations, the men in her family left their wives. That was the only kind of love she’d ever known. The kind that cheats, neglects and leaves. Needless to say, her perception of relationships was distorted.

“The word love was a fictitious thing,” she admitted. “Something that only happened in fairy tales.”

On top of that, she moved 11 times growing up, and the transient lifestyle spiraled her into greater isolation and internal numbness. Connecting with friends, much less a man, seemed too far removed from Kathryn’s reality to be possible.

In college, she finally started to explore the adventure of dating, but after getting into a relationship with a man who abused her physically, emotionally and sexually, her perspective was only jaded more.

When she met her husband, Paul, a man after God’s own heart, she was in awe of his steadfast and caring nature.

“He was the first man I ever encountered in my life that I wanted to follow,” said Kathryn.

But not long after their marriage began, those suppressed emotions and ghosts from her past began to well up inside of her. She abandoned her husband and began an affair with another man.

But God wasn’t finished with Kathryn yet. He showed up to this broken woman in a way that proved he was SO much bigger than her doubt, disobedience and infidelity.

He came to show her what TRUE love really is…

“I Whipped Around and Let That Man Have It. I Told Him Off”: Elderly Lady in Grocery Store Sticks Up for Stranger With Autism

0

“I got the following email this morning. To all the parents who wonder if they are making a difference by advocating for their children…here ya go:

‘Hello Dear Kate,

I have been watching your videos for years now. Ever since I started this Facebook.

I am an old lady. Almost 70 years old. My children are grown. My grandchildren are grown. I live in a small town in the middle of America that no one has ever heard of.

I have never met an autistic person. Honestly, I didn’t even know the word.

I watched you talk about autism and I felt the worry and the love you had for your son.

I know you question if you are doing the right thing. Should you be sharing your son’s life? I know you question if you are actually making a difference.

Here is what I will tell you.

I watch your videos and read your posts and it’s hard for me to understand.

What do you mean he doesn’t talk? Everyone talks.

What do you mean he can’t go to the grocery store? It just doesn’t make sense to me.

In the beginning, I’d see some of the videos of your son and wonder why you just didn’t tell him no. Or tell him ‘this is what we are doing.’ Because that is how I was raised. That is how I raised my children.

A firm, loving hand.

But I kept watching. I kept learning. You kept teaching me.

I’ve watched your son grow. All of your boys actually.

I’ve cried when you cried and cheered when you cheered. And then something beautiful happened.

A group of my lady friends and I visited a local grocery store. We go every week on the same day at the same time. After we have lunch. Only last week was different.

There was a man. A grown man. He had to be in his forties. Except, something was off about him.

A women was leading him around. He covered his ears. He jumped and flapped his arms. He didn’t speak but he sure made a lot of noise. (I know from Cooper that they were happy noises.)

He took up a lot of space. Moving around us. Weaving in and out of the aisles.

Some of the ladies were annoyed. My own friends. I think it was because this man was slowing us down.

While his person waited to check out, he got very animated about the candy bars. I heard the woman talking him through it. Just like you do Kate.

The woman was calm. And touched his arm and whispered in his ear. (I found out later the woman was his younger sister. She made me think of your Sawyer.)

An old man behind us snickered and under his breath said, ‘hurry up.’ (I can say old because I am old.)

I whipped around so fast Kate and I let that man have it.

I said, ‘leave him alone.’ I told him off. I did it for Cooper. And I did it for you.

You helped me see Kate. You opened my eyes to autism. I would have never known if it wasn’t for you. I would have lived my whole life never knowing about Cooper and paper and people who are different.

You taught me to be patient and to show kindness. I did that today.

Thank you for that.

I bet you never thought you’d reach an old lady like me and change her life.

Never doubt your purpose Kate. You are educating people all across the world.

Give Cooper and the boys a hug for me. Please keep sharing.'”

They Weren’t Allowed to Paint Jesus at a Public School, So These Kids Waited 3 Hours for a “Final Act” That Knocked the Audience Breathless

0

These students of Allen Elementary School in Soddy Daisy, TN wanted to do something spectacular for their classmates in the school talent show. There was just one problem.

They wanted to do a piece-by-piece painting of Jesus to demonstrate how he “Paid It All” by dying on the cross and raising from the dead. With it being a public school, they weren’t technically supposed to do so. So they waited nearly 3 hours backstage so they could be the last act and forewarn the audience that they would be doing a religious performance in case anyone wanted to leave.

But those who stayed were sure glad that they did. Their painting turned into an insanely beautiful act of worship on stage, and it’s the best thing you’ll see all day:

Were there concerns that this was performed in a public school? Sure. But see the comment that YouTube poster Rachel Loomis left for those who were “disturbed”:

“Most of these children all go to a local church in our area, and they wanted to do this skit for their classmates. These boys and girls waited patiently in the back for 2 1/2 hours while everyone else in the talent show had their time. They were the very LAST act, and they announced 15 minutes BEFORE they went on, what their skit was about, which gave anyone in the building plenty of time to leave if they didn’t want to stay and watch. This was NOT during school hours, it was an evening of fun, and didn’t go against any “guidelines”!! I am so very thankful that my daughter was asked to perform with these AMAZING children, and I know this performance will stay with her for the rest of her life.”

Kudos to these kids for waiting out the whole show just so they could put Jesus on display. Talk about saving the best act for last!

2-Yr-Old Drowns for 15 Minutes in Pool While Mom Takes a Shower—3 Months Later, She Does the Unthinkable

0

In February 2016, Eden Carlson nearly drowned in her family’s swimming pool.

Her mother believed the 2-year-old was playing safe with her older siblings when she stepped away to take a quick shower. It was during that time that Eden was able to break through the baby gate and make her way to the 5 degree Celsius pool, where she remained for nearly 15 minutes.

When she was found without a heartbeat, she was not expected to survive; but she did.

Eden’s Miracle

The growing, fun-loving, running 2-year-old was left with severe brain damage. She was unable to walk or talk, and her parents were told that she would never be able to speak, walk, eat on her own or react to her surroundings ever again.

Desperate for other options, they found an experimental treatment at LSU Health New Orleans School of Medicine called hyperbaric oxygen therapy. The treatment isn’t new, but it’s experimental, and not approved by the FDA.

Eden was the perfect candidate.

Fifty-five days after being pulled from the freezing waters with no heartbeat, Eden began preparing for hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
