Taylor Swift Responds to Single Mom’s TikTok “These Memories Will Last Us a Lifetime”

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably noticed that Taylor Swift was everywhere in 2023. From her economy-boosting ERAS Tour (both live and in theaters) to her budding romance with Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, the singer is in the press multiple times a day and her songs are constantly on people’s lips and in their heads.

One single mom, Ginny Blair, also credits Swift with giving her and her 9-year-old daughter the best year together that they’ve ever had. She felt so strongly about it that she made a TikTok video thanking Swift, and her mind was totally blown when the 34-year-old superstar singer responded.

“Taylor commenting made my daughter and I’s Christmas complete,” Blair told TODAY.com.

In her original TikTok, Blair said, “Hey Taylor … I’ve been a fan forever. We’re the same age, so I grew up with you. You, like, sang about my life growing up,” she said. And now, I have a 9-year-old daughter who is everything. And she looks up to you for everything, and your song ‘Mean’ is getting her through the bullies at school.”

A tearful Blair went on to say that her daughter is now the “#1 Swiftie” in their household, and that she recently told her mom “I’ve had more fun with you this year than ever before.”

“And I know why,” Blair continued, crediting Swift, “It’s because we have had so much fun surrounding you.”

She then went on to explain that not only had they made epic memories together attending Swift’s ERAS Tour, but that they also watched the ERAS Tour movie together in the theater a whopping five times.

“We got the buckets, and we got the merch, and we have had so much fun,” she said. “And then just the other night we rented the movie and ordered a pizza and lounged and had a movie night watching ‘The Eras Tour.’”

Blair went on to tell Swift what her daughter’s sentiments mean to her as a mom.

“For my daughter to sit there and be like, ‘I’ve had the best year with you’ … I am a single mom. I work every day. That means so much to me,” she said tearfully.

Blair also said she knows Taylor gets a lot of flack and criticism from people who aren’t fans, and so she wanted her to get some special encouragement about the “impact” she has on people “behind the scenes.”

“…the most fun I’ve had this year is belting in the car and watching my daughter flourish,” she said. “I just wanted you to know that you have changed my mom heart and have brought my daughter and I closer together.”

Although Blair was hoping that Swift would see the video, she was astonished when Taylor actually did—and then jumped into the comments to respond!

“You just reminded me of why this year has been so special. I’m so moved by what you said. It reminds me of me and my mom and the memories we made at that age,” the superstar wrote to Blair.

But that wasn’t all! Deciding she wasn’t done sharing yet, Swift left a follow-up comment as well.

“Thank you so much for sharing this,” she went on. “Being vulnerable enough to share your true emotions is a beautiful thing. Happy Holidays.”

An amazed Blair responded to Swift, saying “This isn’t real… OMG!!!! Thank you for being unapologetically you!!”

She and her daughter then made a special follow-up TikTok to thank Swift for her reply: the duo performed a dance to Taylor’s “from the vault” song “Is It Over Yet?” from her “Taylor’s Version” of her 1989 album.

Well done, Ms. Swift, making the year of a deserving mama-daughter duo! Best wishes to the Blair family for an equally exciting 2024.
