Actor Kelsey Grammer Says, ‘Jesus Made a difference in my life. That’s not anything I’ll apologize for.’

Actor Kelsey Grammer talks to Kelly and Ryan about his faith and how he’s not going to apologize for it, saying “Jesus made a difference in my life.”

Kelsey Grammer Explains How Jesus made a difference in His Life

You may know Kelsey Grammer as Dr. Frasier Crane from his nearly 20-year role in the show “Frasier,” or for his roles in “Cheers,” “Boss,” or “Transformers.”

The 68-year-old actor has been acting since 1981, and he has received multiple nominations and awards, such as the three Golden Globes he’s received. But his role in the movie “Jesus Revolution” is particularly moving to him because of its tie to his own personal faith.

On Live With Kelly and Ryan, Kelsey Grammer tears up, just watching a scene from the movie with hostess Kelly Ripa and host Ryan Seacrest.

“It’s a nice movie,” he tells the duo, laughing about his tears.

According to Grammer, Jesus made a difference to him, which is why the movie means so much to him.

When asked about his tears, Kelsey Grammer explains, “When I first saw the first cut, sat down in our home, Kayte (his wife) told me, she said ‘Oh my gosh, it’s the best thing you’ve ever done.'”

With a trembling voice, the actor told Kelly and Ryan that the movie is based on Chuck Smith, “a man looking for his own faith, and he finds it as well.”

The story tells about Smith, whose church was empty and he was at risk of being fired from his role at the church as a pastor, and “this hippie comes into his life and he finds some purpose and started a movement that is still going.”

Chuck Smith died in 2013, but the Calvary Chapel movement that he started continues on today.

“It’s extraordinary,” Kelsey Grammer told Kelly and Ryan in his interview, explaining how he comes across people often who had interacted with Chuck Smith.

Kelsey Grammer told the duo that people’s faces light up when they talk about this Christian icon. He could tell Jesus made a difference to them through Chuck.

Watch him talk about “Jesus Revolution” and Chuck Smith in his interview here:

The Calvary Chapel movement apparently made an impact on Kelsey Grammer, as well.

14-Year-old Brings Home a Fake Baby for School Assignment—Her Mom’s Reaction Is Winning the Internet

0

After a 14-year-old brings home a fake baby for a school assignment, she seeks her mom’s help with no success.

How’d the 14-year-old do with her fake baby?

Lawren Cole Galloway seemed to get some satisfaction out of her daughter’s struggle with a school assignment that had the 14-year-old care for a fake baby for several days.

The fake baby, provided by the school was made with real baby needs that the 14-year-old was required to take care of around the clock, such as feeding the baby, changing the baby, and burping the baby. It’s designed to track students’ responsiveness and care, and when fake baby is returned to the school, a report shows how well the student did with these tasks.

For 14-year-old Olivia, it was a struggle, and she received a 65 percent on her first try. Her mother, Lawren, posted a report on Facebook, showing that while her 14-year-old daughter changed the fake baby 100 percent of the time, she did not rock the baby sufficiently, nor did she support its head.

Along with a photo of the report of the 14-year-old’s ability to care for the fake baby, Lawren posted images of her exhausted daughter.

“She’s had him since Friday night. She is absolutely exhausted and ready to quit the class and give William back. (Maybe even throw him back),” the mom posted to Facebook. “It’s definitely been a learning experience.”

Check out the photos and the mom’s words here:

In her post, the mom seemed to revel in her daughter’s struggle, saying, “My favorite moment so far is when she came into my room last night around 3am. She was crying real tears while feeding him his bottle.”

The real mom explained, “She was begging me to help her because she just wanted to get some sleep.”

Wondering what Lawren told her exhausted, crying 14-year-old daughter?

Father of the Bride Refuses to Walk His Daughter Down the Aisle Without This Man

0

Weddings are an emotionally-charged day for any father.

Handing off your baby girl to another man is about the most difficult thing any dad could have to do.

So imagine bride Brittany Peck’s surprise when her father, Todd Bachman, handed her off to not one man, but two.

And no, this wasn’t a polygamous wedding.

Bachman wanted to do something insanely beautiful for Brittany’s stepdad, Todd Cendrosky.

So right before the long-awaited wedding march, he came up to the photographer Delia D Blackburn and said, “I’m gonna do something special. Just be ready.”

As he turned to meet his daughter, he had one more stop to make first. Before Cendrosky knew what hit him, Bachman stopped mid-step and grabbed his hand to pull him alongside Brittany as he said, “Hey, you’ve worked for this as hard as I have. You deserve this as much as I do. You’re gonna help us walk our daughter down the aisle.”

And that’s when Todd C. lost it.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd as the two men put 14 years of strife behind them to walk their daughter down the aisle in unison.

“I Kept Them All”: Stepdad Breaks Down After Daughter Frames Every Note He Left on Her Door

Middle school can be a challenging time for adolescents as they swim the unfamiliarity of puberty and the increasing pressures that surface amidst their peer circles.

Aware of these daunting realities facing his stepdaughter Sophia Wilcox, Brian Sandusky decided to do something pretty amazing to make her feel special each day. He left an inspirational note on Sophia’s door every single day throughout middle school to encourage her and propel her through any uncertainties or challenges she may be facing.

What Brian DIDN’T know is that the now-20-year-old-college kid never let go of those little yellow sticky notes that became the highlight of her middle school mornings. She saved Every. Last. One.

With Father’s Day being the perfect occasion to show her stepdad just how much she loves and appreciates him, Sophia presented Brian with a beautiful frame housing all of those handwritten notes surrounding a picture of them together.

To say the unveiling of the middle school messages was emotional would be quite the understatement.

Sophia shared the touching moment Brian opened the unexpected gift on Twitter, writing, “During middle school, my stepdad used to leave me a note on my door each day to inspire me. well, I kept those notes & It’s been 6 years since then. Today I gave him those notes back.”

“I don’t know if I’m crying harder at the fact that he wrote you all of those notes or at the fact that you kept them all,” wrote @chelsea_c7 followed by a [series] of sobbing emojis.

Many commenters shared her sentiments:

The video even tugged at the heartstrings of other fathers who were moved by the daily dedication and love Brian showed to his daughter over the years. “As the dad of two amazing adult daughters–you are awesome,” wrote one dad named Rob. “That was just wonderful to see. Thanks! Loved the dog making sure he was ok, too.”

“He was so shocked when I gave it to him because he hadn’t known that I kept all the notes,” Sophia told the Press Association. “He told me later that he was beyond moved. He’s been in my life for about 10 years now. He’s a very supportive man and always tries to make me laugh, even on a bad day…He’s changed how I see the world and I’m very grateful for that.”

‘I Won’t Deny My Faith’—Mark Wahlberg Kicks Off 40 Days of Lent on the ‘TODAY’ Show

0

Actor and producer Mark Wahlberg appeared on the ‘TODAY’ show Wednesday morning to talk about his faith, the practice of Lent and his participation in the Hallow app’s #Pray40 challenge, in which Wahlberg is joined by actors Jim Caviezel and Jonathan Roumie.

“God didn’t come to save the saints, he came to save the sinners,” said Wahlberg, who noted that his faith “is everything” to him. “We’ve all had things and issues in our lives and we want to be better versions of ourselves, and through focusing my faith, it’s allowed me to do that.”

Mark Wahlberg: God Knows What You Need

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a season in the Christian liturgical calendar that anticipates Jesus’ resurrection. It ends during Holy Week, the week leading up to Easter Sunday. Other seasons in the Christian calendar include Advent, Easter, and Ordinary Time.

The roots of Lent go back to the practices of early church converts to Christianity, who would fast in preparation for being baptized on Easter morning. Eventually, Lent became associated with Jesus’ 40-day fast in the wilderness.

It is common for modern Christians to choose something to fast from during Lent, whether a type of food, habit, or some other comfort. Participants can break their fast on Sundays, which are “feast days” that foreshadow Easter.

Mark Wahlberg said that today he will only have one meal and no meat and that he will do the same every Friday during Lent. “If you have issues with food, there are other things,” he observed. “God knows the things he wants you to detach from.”

The actor, who is Catholic, challenged people to “be better versions of themselves.”

Discipline has always been important for me in life,” said Wahlberg. “Once I started getting into movies and transitioned from music, I realized I needed a lot of discipline in my life, and that discipline has afforded me so many other things, and I’ve been rewarded for it so much and I want to share that with people.”

Watch Stephen Colbert Go Head-to-Head With Atheist Ricky Gervais on the Existence of God

0

It’s no secret that religion is a heated topic in our world that has spawned countless hate crimes and wars. It’s rare to see two people from completely opposite ends of the spectrum sit down and have a civil conversation about their stances on God.

But when self-proclaimed atheist Ricky Gervais took the hot seat on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the Christian host did not miss his chance to bring up matters of faith.

“Do you wanna debate the existence of God?” Colbert asked the comedian shortly into the interview.

Willing and ready to defend his position, Gervais agreed to tackle the topic head on.

Colbert opened the discussion in asking, “Why is there something instead of nothing?”

Affirming first that the “how” is bigger than the “why,” Gervais added, “You don’t believe in 2,999 gods—and I don’t believe in just one more.”

Watch how the rest of this God debate unfolded below:

In typical Colbert fashion, the host amicably navigated the heated topic with a little humor.

Colbert shares, “I can only explain my experience which is I have a strong desire to direct my gratitude towards something or someone. And that thing is God.”

As he joked at an earlier event, The Cardinal and Colbert: Humor, Joy and the Spiritual Life: “If Jesus doesn’t have a sense of humor, I am in huge trouble.”

However, while it’s important to be winsome in witnessing to unbelievers, one could certainly argue that Colbert’s side of the debate lacked some theological depth.

If you’d like to explore a more weighty discussion on the existence of God, Tim Keller does an excellent job of expounding upon this topic in his Google Talk “The Reason for God.”

Watch as Tim expertly tackles three of the most common questions that plague our culture today: why the reasons for God are important, how the reasons for God work and what the reasons for God really are.

Former Hillsong Pastor, Brian Houston, Serves as Lone Witness in His Own Defense

0

Brian Houston, former pastor of Hillsong Church, stood trial in December 2022 for allegedly covering up his father’s sexual abuse. He told the courts he first learned of his father’s abuse from a general manager with the church back in 1999. Brian pled “not guilty” and continues to claim innocence of the allegations.

The trial lasted 13 days and included eight prosecuting witnesses. On the defense side, just one witness—Brian Houston himself—spoke up.

As part of the trial, the prosecution questioned when Brian had learned of his father’s abuse. Hillsong general manager George Aghajanian testified that when he told Brian of the abuse, he had “a shocked expression on his face.”

However, when John McMartin, another pastor, confronted Brian with the same news just a month later, Brian reacted with the same apparent element of surprise as when Aghajanian told him.

Brian didn’t go to the authorities with the information until after his father’s death in 2004.

Bobbie Houston Posts Trial Update on Instagram

According to Brian’s wife, Bobbie, court is adjourned until June. The world waits for final arguments and the magistrate’s ruling. Due to legal mandates, Brian is prevented from speaking publicly about the trial.

Bobbie began her post by tagging her husband and captioning the attached photo, “@brianchouston surrounded w street kids from Vision Rescue, India.”

She went on to pledge her unwavering love and support of her husband, writing, “As a wife of near 46yrs I’m weary of the relentless assault on this man, weary of the unchallenged, uncontained narratives left to fester. I vowed to him last yr that if no one stands up & vindicates his integrity, character & worth, I will. And I’ll die on my sword if need be. That might sound dramatic but I have no reason to say otherwise.”

“Modern day persecution is accusatory, cowardly & appalling. Those who perpetrate it should be sued for defamation & damaging bullying, but because that isn’t the nature of Christ, we will continue to pray for you,” Bobbie continued. “Just remember dear ones, that the Courts of Heaven exist & no action or word or ill-intent goes unobserved. Whilst it is still ‘Day’ there is grace to recover & change your ways, but a day will come when that day may expire. Don’t risk that, nor boast of tomorrow, for none of us know what a day will bring. His Grace is all sufficient but it has to be embraced.”

“For those curious but uninformed about the Court Case last Dec – Brian can’t speak of it for legal reasons, but I can,” the post read.

“FIRSTLY, thankyou to all who prayed. Thousands around the world,” Bobbie recounted. “We endured 13 days in court. The Crown Prosecution presented eight witnesses. Our Defense presented one – Brian Houston. All evidence was heard, all evidence is recorded. Now the case is adjourned till June for oral & written summaries, final arguments & then the Magistrate alone will rule.”

“My husband is a champion…and to endure this after 24yrs says much about his stoic spirit.”

“As a family we Thank you for your love & concern. I’m only posting this because many are unaware. Some media outlets report with integrity, others don’t.”

“There are no restrictions on Brian. Again, we are grateful for those who prayed & ask that you continue. In the meantime, we soldier on alongside our King, believing that the finest days for the Body of Christ are before us all – days for boldness & courage; for living in the Truth of who Christ is; for knowing the power of His Spirit; and for loving not ones life even unto death (Rev); days of great harvest in Jesus dear & glorious Name!”

What Is Happening at Asbury University?—Is This the Start of Widespread Revival?

On Wednesday, Feb. 8, following an ordinary morning chapel service led by Rev. Zach Meerkreebs in Hughes Auditorium at Asbury University, students were encouraged to stay after chapel if they wanted to continue worshiping God.

More than a week later, that worship service hasn’t stopped. As news has spread, Christians from across the country have made pilgrimages to witness what God is doing at the small, multi-denominational university located in Wilmore, Kentucky.

Sarah, a student who attends Asbury University, described the sermon as a “really encouraging and challenging message about love from the book of Romans.”

Meerkreebs encouraged students to sit in the love of God—to taste, see, and experience the power of the Holy Spirit.

“If you want to become love in action, you start by prostrating yourself before the love of God. If you want to become love in action, you have to experience the love of God,” Meerkreebs said. Directly addressing those who are preparing to graduate this year, Meerkreebs added, “Do not graduate and think you are going to do all this stuff in your own strength. Do not leave here before you learn about the love of God and experience the love of God, so you can pour it out, and he will fill you back up.”

“Asbury,” Meerkreebs said, “the world needs this kind of love. Syria and Turkey needs this kind of love. Your mom and dad need this kind of love. The teammates on your team, the people on your floor, Wilmore, Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky, the United States need this kind of love. They need a bunch of Christians to experience the love of God so they can pour out the love of God—not through their own efforts and not through their own knowledge—but because they are filled with his love.”

“I pray that this sits on you guys like an itchy sweater. And when you got an itch, you got to take care of it,” Meerkreebs said.

Sarah shared with Faithit that she was one of the students who stayed after the chapel service and continued to worship, adding, “Something felt different and I couldn’t leave just quite yet.”

Describing what happened next, Sarah said that despite having class right after chapel, she took off her backpack and decided to stay.

“There were maybe 20 students who were there just worshiping Jesus with everything they had, and it was beautiful,” she said, explaining that students “began to pray over each other, and my friends brought in their guitars and started playing and singing too.”

“Jesus has been moving in beautiful ways since the very beginning. The time just absolutely flew that day. I ended up being there for 13 hours straight, not once leaving, because I just couldn’t get enough of it,” Sarah added.

53 years ago, on Feb. 3, 1970, something similar took place in the same auditorium—an event now known as the Asbury Revival of 1970. It began when Dean Custer B. Reynolds invited students to share their testimonies during a chapel service. That revival lasted for 144 hours and resulted in the university canceling classes for a week.

[BREAK]

The 1970 revival produced 2,000 Asbury witnessing teams that went to colleges and churches across the nation.

At this same time, on the west coast in the late 1960s and early 1970s, God was bringing people to repentance through what is known today as the “Jesus Movement,” a revival that brought evangelist Greg Laurie to faith and resulted in his becoming a pastor. Laurie’s movie, “Jesus Revolution,” which tells the story of how he came to know Jesus, hits theaters on Feb. 24.

Faithit on Location

Faithit went on location to Asbury University on Wednesday, Feb. 13, seven full days after spontaneous worship began.

Arriving around 9 a.m., the chapel was closed to the public until after 11:30 a.m. so that students could attend their required 10 a.m. chapel service. The university set up two overflow areas on the campus so that non-students could watch the chapel service via video feed. Estes Chapel, the overflow building located across the street from Hughes Auditorium, was standing-room-only when the chapel service began.

Asbury University president Kevin Brown told the packed Hughes Auditorium, “Our hearts are full, because this auditorium is filled with students.”

As Brown welcomed those who don’t attend the university, he shared that what they are experiencing is uncharted territory.

“We have made a discernment as a leadership team, a conscious decision from the start of this moment, for Asbury not to seize what’s happening now as a platform for our school,” he said. “And that’s why we have not live streamed, and we have just asked other guests that have come into this facility to honor that discernment for this present moment.”

Reciting some of Paul’s words from Colossians 3, Brown addressed whether what is happening just a sociological phenomenon.

“Well, on one level, yes, it is,” he said. “We’re human. We’re people. There’s a certain character to this. But at the same time, on another level, I think that something is happening that is not reducible to sociological phenomena alone.”

Brown made clear that there is no political agenda behind what is happening at the university, saying, “The only political agenda is that Jesus is Lord. The only agenda is that we are citizens in the kingdom of heaven…What is happening here isn’t just for us at the university. It’s not an exclusive event. Everyone is invited.”

“Jesus is the kind of Savior that invited people, that if I’m honest, I don’t think they should be invited,” Brown shared. “Jesus is always inviting.”

Brown laughed when addressing whether the event was preplanned.

“No way,” he said. “We are just trying to shepherd and steward and be as hospitable to the Spirit as we know how in real time.”

The president admitted the events that began on Feb. 8 aren’t convenient. Addressing the students, he said, “It’s not convenient for you. It’s not convenient for our university. It’s not convenient for our staff and faculty.”

Noting that several university leaders had been unable to fulfill their normal job functions for the past week, Brown explained, “They’re redeploying their efforts to facilitate and host this special thing. So it’s not convenient.”

Middle Schoolers Sex Trafficked on Backpage Beg for Help: “We Need Someone to Give Us a Fighting Chance”

0

With the End It Movement’s “Shine a Light on Slavery Day,” quickly approaching on February 23, there’s no better time to talk about the world’s most widespread epidemic—modern slavery.

It is estimated that there are as many as 30 million slaves in the world today who are victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Eighty percent of which are women, and half are children.

Unlike the slavery we grew up reading about in our history books, modern slavery cannot be easily seen.

I Am Jane Doe is seeking to change that.

The film, which hit select theaters on February 10, chronicles the battle of several American mothers fighting on behalf of their middle-school-aged daughters, who are victims of sex trafficking on Backpage.com.

Backpage.com is the second largest classified-ad listing service on the Internet in the United States (behind Craigslist).

For years, the adult classifieds section of the website has been used to buy and sell victims of human trafficking.

As one attorney puts it in the film’s trailer, “Backpage is like the Walmart of human trafficking.”

According to the film’s website, the documentary reveals how, after rescuing their daughters, these mothers filed lawsuits against Backpage. Although many of the lawsuits have not gone well, their efforts have sparked a political movement that now includes a Senate investigation.

“We need someone to give us a fighting chance,” stated one human trafficking victim through a stream of tears.

And that’s exactly what this project is all about.

We may not be able to see it, but modern day slavery is all around us. We have a tendency to put up blinders, and believe that it’s only happening where we can see it—in third world countries across the globe. But it’s happening in our backyards, across the street, at our favorite sporting events and across our nation.

I Am Jane Doe is a gut-wrenching human story and a fresh look at a social and legal issue that affects every community in America.

In addition to the educational and human rights value of the film, 50 percent of all profits from the project will be donated to nonprofit organizations which serve Jane Doe children.

Chloe and Rohan Dustan always dreamed of having a big family. When their first three kiddos turned out being boys, the couple knew that a little girl was just what the family needed to complete the puzzle. Of course, another little boy would be fine too, but in any case, the Dustans began trying for a fourth baby.

Chloe quickly got pregnant, and to her surprise, her belly began growing faster than it ever had with her previous pregnancies. In addition to that, her hormones were a mess, and she was having strange cravings—all new things for this well-seasoned mom. Chloe thought it could only mean one thing—this must be a girl!

The couple went to the doctor with expectant hearts, and wound up getting the shock of a lifetime.

The ultrasound technician got to work, and quickly discovered that Chloe had multiple little miracles growing inside of her.

“I was looking at the screen and was pretty sure I could see two sacs, but I just thought, ‘No way,’” Chloe recalls. “After a little bit of scanning, she finally said to us, ‘I’ll tell you what I can see. I see one baby over here,’ and then she quickly moved the wand over and said, ‘and another baby over here.’”

10 Sex Slaves Tell Their Story of Breaking Free from Human Trafficking

The average age of a sex slave in America is 13 years old.

Yep, you read that correctly. “Slavery,” “America,” and “13 years old” all in one sentence.

When we think about a sex slave, most of us probably have this very sensationalized Hollywood perception of what that phrase actually means.

We think of Liam Neeson moving heaven and earth to rescue his daughter in Taken, or Mariska Hargitay helping a victim on Law and Order SVU. Perhaps you visualize dirty, ragged girls, chained to beds, or even foreign children in a faraway land.

But sex trafficking is happening HERE. At home. In our towns, and our neighborhoods.

It is estimated that there are as many as 30 million sex slaves in the world today who are victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Eighty percent of which are women and half are children.

The Global Slavery Index estimates that there 57,700 sex slaves living IN AMERICA.

Those who have survived often share their story in hopes of preventing others from becoming vulnerable, but more importantly, to shed light on the hidden modern-day slavery that is happening right under our noses.

Art Teacher Tells a 6-Year-Old Her Painting is Wrong, Twitter Rallies Behind Heartbroken Little Girl

0

After an art teacher tells a 6-year-old her painting wasn’t done correctly, a mom takes to Twitter for support from the community.

Why an Art Teacher Tells a 6-year-old Her Art is “Wrong”

Gemma Leighton, mom of Edie, was disturbed when her daughter came home sad and discouraged, and she asked little Edie what was going on. Apparently, in an after-school art club, the aspiring little artist had been snubbed by her teacher.

Here’s the story: The art teacher tells a 6-year-old her art work is wrong, after she sees Edie’s painting of a scene of trees lining a pathway.

Mother, Gemma Leighton, was so angry that she posted to Twitter, asking her followers to help Edie feel better after the art teacher tells a 6-year-old her painting is wrong.

“Can you please show Edie some support and like her painting?” the mom posted, along with an image of the painting.

Here’s her post from Twitter:

The disappointed mom introduced the painting, saying, “My 6 year old daughter painted this amazing scene at an after school art club.”

The mom went on to explain, “Her art teacher told her she had done it wrong?!”

Understandably, after the art teacher tells a 6-year-old her art is done wrong, the mom points out, “You can’t do art wrong!”

Since the mom’s post, the Tweet has received more than 134,000 likes, 8,150 retweets, and 2,877 quote tweets.

And that’s not all. Edie also received a lot of encouragement…
